The German University for Administrational Sciences Speyer
Founded in 1947 by the Administrateur Général of the French Occupation Zone as the "State Academy of Administrative Sciences", leadership training for the management of a democratic Germany has always been one of the main tasks of our university.
An example of this was the École nationale d'administration (ENA), founded in 1945, in which leadership training is mainly left to practitioners. Although in Germany this task falls primarily to university professors, ie scientists, the DUV is characterized by a high proportion of high-ranking practitioners as lecturers.
As the only university in Germany, the DUV is not funded by one state or by the federal government, but by all states and the Federal Republic of Germany, which is why the legislator added the word "German" to the name of the university.
In addition to law, there are also chairs for economics, social science and administrative science since the 1970s. The additions reflect the interdisciplinary, "Speyerer" understanding of public administration and contribute greatly to research and education at the university.
